Join us as we explore a different area of the Gardens or Nature Walk each month. Whether we're searching for wildlife, getting crafty with art projects, or conducting experiments, we'll have a ton of fun as we discover the wonders of nature. For all ages with an adult. 10:30am - 12noon.

Krazy for Koi Fish
Saturday, May 18
In the Japanese culture, koi fish represent bravery and perseverance and are the symbols for the annual Japanese Children’s Day in May, which celebrates the health and happiness of their children. Come visit Ladew’s koi fish, including a few new additions. We’ll learn about koi, this Japanese celebration and the tradition of making koi wind socks. Design your own wind sock. 
 

Pond Search
Saturday, June 15
Spring has sprung and the ponds are jumping with lots of activity. Join us as we scoop the ponds in the water lily garden for frogs, tadpoles, dragonfly babies and more. Create a fun, frog life cycle craft to take home. 
 

Butterflies and Caterpillars
Saturday, July 13
The gardens are aflutter with butterflies everywhere. Help us catch some of these winged beauties, as well as search for caterpillars munching away on their favorite plants. Conduct a cool experiment and make a craft. 
 

Nature’s Crayons
Saturday, August 10
Imagine if you had no crayons, markers or other art materials. What would you use for drawing or painting? Let’s get creative and make masterpieces from materials that we gather from nature – berries, flowers, twigs, nuts, charcoal and more. 
 

Children’s Day – Fun with Bubbles!
Sunday, September 15
Pop! Float! Fizz! Join us as we learn about all types of bubbles formed in nature – from bubbles made by animals and bugs for hiding, breathing or floating, to bubbles created in a chemistry experiment. Enjoy performances from The Bubble Lady, Pam the Kindersinger and the One-Step MagiCompany. Also included are crafts and hands-on learning stations with lots of bubbles, live fish and insects! 11am – 4pm
 

Fairy Houses and Gnome Homes
Saturday, October 19
Venture into the forest with us to help build fairy houses and gnome homes for our fantastical forest friends. In addition, make your own fairy or gnome craft to take home. We’ll provide the materials, you provide the imagination.


 

 
Fee: Members are free, Non-Members are free with general admission purchase.
Adults $10, Seniors (62+) and Students $8, Children (ages 2-12) $2.
Includes admission to the Gardens and Nature Walk for the day.
