FAMILY NATURE EXPLORERS
NEW FORMAT this year! No reservations required. Just drop in! Join us at a different learning station in the Gardens or on the Nature Walk each month. Whether we're searching for wildlife, conducting experiments, or making a craft, we'll have a ton of fun as we discover the wonders of nature. If it rains, we'll bring the outdoors inside!
For all ages with an adult (3 years & up recommended)
Time: 10:30 am – 12:00 noon (drop-in anytime; check in at the Visitor Center; allow at least 30 minutes)
Fee: Free for Members | Non-members free with paid garden admission

Celebrate Earth Day: Tour a Recycling Center
Friday, April 14 (Good Friday; schools are closed)
Earth Day should be every day but why not celebrate the upcoming
Earth Day this year by checking out where all of our recycling and trash goes.
Join a guided tour of the Baltimore County Materials Recovery Facility in Cockeysville.
Time: 10:00 – 11:00am.
Fee: $5 Limited to 30 people, ages 10 years and up.

Saturday, May 20
Fly on over to Ladew to learn about our backyard feathered friends, from songbirds to raptors. We’ll explore the gardens and meadows, where we commonly see the birds eating, nesting, and bathing.
Saturday, June 17
Spring has sprung and the ponds are jumping with lots of activity. We’ll have fun as we scoop the ponds in search of frogs, tadpoles, dragonfly babies and more.
Cool as a Koi

Ladew’s Iris Garden koi pond is home to everyone's favorite fish! Learn all about Ladew's majestic koi fish, cool off with water games and make a koi creation.
Butterflies and Caterpillars

The meadow and gardens are aflutter with butterflies everywhere. Come visit our native Butterfly House, explore the meadow, and learn about these beautiful creatures – from egg to butterfly – and the plants that their lives depend on.
